A Helsinki based Blues dance troupe “Out of the Blues” demonstrates the variety of blues dances to the audience. It is coached by Arja Sahlberg who is also the choreographer of the group. Out of the Blues has been performing in many social dance events organised in the Helsinki swing and blues dance scene like The Grind blues party weekend, Helswingi and Midnight Sun Swing dance festival, as well as in Stompin' at the Sea blues cruise organised by Finnish Blues Society. Out of the Blues operates under Blues Dance Helsinki.

Arja has created the choreographies for a variety blues songs - quick to slow, fun to serious. The group showcases different blues styles to raise awareness of the diversity of the blues dance.

The Blues Dance Helsinki team consists of volunteers who have a passion for blues dancing and building the community around it. The association was officially founded in 2023 after existing as a non-organised group for several years. Blues Dance Helsinki creates plenty of opportunities to practice blues dancing in Helsinki. As Dance Club Comets organises weekly blues dance classes, Blues Dance Helsinki makes sure the dancers have regular events to practice those skills. We bring new people to the dance scene and organise more chances to deepen the community's blues dancing skills and knowledge about the roots of the dance. We are happy to collaborate with organisations and individuals who organise blues related events and other occasions or otherwise support the blues dance community in Helsinki.

For people to feel comfortable and safe on the dance floor we have a Code of Conduct that has been created in collaboration with several dance schools and event organisers in swing and blues dance scene of Helsinki.
